Caleb Melo - The Reeves Brothers, Jesse Daniels, Ben Haggard and the Strangers

Post by William Hoyle »

Hey guys, just wanted to come on here and give you the October Picker of the Month article that I published tonight on Mr. Caleb Melo.
At only 24 freaking years of age, this kid is already backing Ben Haggard and the Strangers and is a stone cold killer at Pedal Steel.

Check it out, and let me know what you guys think!
Got one more article for November, and then something pretty big planned for December that is a video.

Nice piece on a deserving new talent with a good looking future ahead of him. I liked the biographical content too, especially the mention of getting his first pedal steel from Bakersfield legend Larry Petree. They start ‘em out young down there in Porterville.

Thanks for the article William. I've enjoyed all 3 articles to date.
Just saw Caleb about a month ago at the Mesa Amphitheater. He can certainly play. He even covered lead guitar parts. "Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink" was eye opening. He was all over that one. Funny thing is Ben never introduced the band. I had no idea until the day after who was playing steel. Certainly do now.

I haven't checked it out yet but Caleb is the man, talented to the nines and a really nice person to boot. Thanks for choosing to profile him, he is very deserving!

Keep up the good work!

Norm Hamlet showing you the ropes with the Strangers... there may not ever be a better education than that.

Hell, that is what I am saying!
I even asked him what that was like and he said it is still odd. Lol.
Since he was basically a student of the Strangers growing up, and listening to all of the old Norm stuff and learning it to then, years later joining a band with him still being an active part.

I could not even imagine.

Just finished reading the excellent article, Thanks William for featuring Caleb.

I got to me him in Lubbock, TX with my daughter when dropping her off for school, and I can attest that he is as nice and talented as reported. My other daughter and son have been lucky to see him play and meet him in Austin. My nephews are huge fans too and Sid, is often mistaken for Caleb, since they have a similar look.

Looking forward to your next artist! Zach?
Regards, Craig
